Unified Engineering Workers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (UEWMPC) is composed of engineers, architects, utility and skilled workers. The cooperative was organized on October 3, 1992 and later registered at the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) on February 2, 1993, has complied with the requirements prescribed by the authority for the issuance of New Certificate of Registration under Article 144 of R.A. 9520 otherwise known as the ‘ Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008.” The quintessential purpose by which the cooperative was organized is to generate job opportunity to its members, for in this way, it can help our government alleviate unemployment that causes poverty in the country.

Since UEWMPC was established, it continually keeps enhancing the skills of its members thru training and trade testing conducted by TESDA in view of the cooperative’s commitment to render quality services to its clients. It had also acquired and still keeps gradually acquiring transportation and construction equipments for the improvements of its capability and capacity of workmanship. UEWMPC provides manpower, technical supports and engineering services for civil, mechanical, electrical and architectural works, including consultancy on project management.

Earlier in 1993, UEWMPC started getting contracts thru biddings at Dole Philippine Inc. and thereby supplied technical services and skilled workers particularly at the Engineering Department of the said company. In September 1995, the UEWMPC had applied for contractor’s accreditation at Philippines Contractor’s Accreditation Board (PCAB), which was then approved by the said board in August 1996. By virtue of the said approval, UEWMPC entered into biddings with the government’s agencies particularly with the Department of Public Works & Highways (DPWH) of Koronadal City. Fortunately, a contract was awarded by the said government’s agency to UEWMPC for the construction of the 04 unit school buildings and multi-purpose pavements of various barangays at the Municipality of Polomolok, Province of South Cotabato. Later, UEWMPC expanded its operations at General Santos City, and to the rest of the municipalities in the Province of South Cotabato. With such expansion, UEWMPC acquired a contract to supply manpower services to the Progressive Farms Inc. at Palian, Tupi, South Cotabato.

Currently, UEWMPC has a population of 436 regular members and 3,045 associate members or a total population of 3,917 members. 90% of the total members are assigned at Dole Philippine Inc. Only 8% of the total members are assigned at other small companies, other 1% at the cooperative shop and another 1% works in the cooperative office. Dole Philippine Inc., a multi-billion company, has trusted and currently keeps trusting the capability, capacity and integrity of UEWMPC being a diligent provider of high quality engineering and manpower services.

However, UEWMPC’s services are not merely limited to the private clients. It even generously extends to the people who are its ultimate clients. Thus, UEWMPC has envisioned itself as a way of life for improving the social and economic well being of the people. Anent this, by virtue of the Deed of Assignment signed by UEWMPC and Mahintana Foundation Inc., UEWMPC humbly toke the honor to work with Mahintana Foundation, under the assistance of the Embassy of Japan, in upgrading the educational environment of elementary and high schools in the Province of South Cotabato in a way of providing quality armchairs, tables, pew, kiddie chairs, and cabinets to the recipient schools. Furthermore, it always ensures that the cooperative’s idealism, which is “service above profit”, must always be diligently upheld. Hence, UEWMPC charged the production’s cost of the above-mentioned school’s furniture at a very low price.

Because UEWMPC generates job opportunity to the Municipality of Polomolok, it has established a strong relationship with the community constituents and with the local government unit. Hence, the cooperative members together with the community constituents and the local government unit diligently keep pursuing peace and progress for the benefit of everyone. In view of all these, UEWMPC is indeed a partner of the Philippine Government in nation building.
